I like riding in the car with my humans, but when they leave me in the car and go into the store, I get a little worried.  I know they're going to come back, but I'm impatient.  I just stare out the window and watch the front door of the store.  I check everyone that walks out, "Not them....Not them...Not them...."  Sometimes I even start drooling profusely, which I don't normally do.  Then when I finally spot them, I get super excited and occasionally try to jump in the front seat when they get back in the car.  When my pack is all back together, I can settle down in the back seat and chew on a bone.  All is right with the world.
This morning I left this as a present for my humans, and then went back to sleep next to their bed.  That way, when they woke up, they found my toy waiting for them!  I was thinking they'd get the hint and play with me.  I've got lots of energy in the morning.

I had a great morning at the dog park with Elise and our human friend Kyra.  I ran around a lot, pounced on things, burrowed through blackberry bushes, ran through tall grass, stared at ducks, went swimming, ate grass, stole other dogs' tennis balls, played tag with some dogs, wrestled, got muddy, and made some new doggie friends.  Now I'm just going to curl up by my human's chair, take a long nap, and dream of squirrels!

I love when my human, Brandon, comes home from work.  I get so excited that I just want to crawl right into his lap!  Since I'm a little big for that, I just put my two front paws on his lap and let him massage my chest and shoulders.  They need a massage after all the running around I do.

Look at your dog.  Then look at me.  Look at your dog again, and then back to me.  Sadly, your dog is not me.

I've been getting spoiled this weekend at my human grandparents' house.  They let me up on their furniture!  I'm taking advantage of it while I can.  I like snuggling right up next to my humans.

I don't think Elise got enough sleep last night.  She needed an afternoon nap this Xmas Eve.  I decided to join her and cuddled up on the chair too.  I've had an exciting couple of days so I was more tired than I thought.

I'm really enjoying my human grandparents' backyard!  First, I found a big pile of cat poop and devoured that pretty quickly.  Then I found a tennis ball and decided to just relax in the grass, while savoring the cat poop taste that was still lingering in my mouth.  I soaked up some sunshine and listened to whatever was going on in the neighbors' yards around me.

My human really enjoys reading the Hunger Games books.  This is the 3rd book in the series.  I tried on some glasses and decided to give it a try.  A few pages into it, I remembered that I like eating books better than reading them.  Also, these glasses don't fit over my ears very well.

I think my human Elise was quoting the movie "Anchorman" when she looked at me and said, "You are so wise....like a little miniature buddha, covered in hair."

All I wanted to do was chew on this hat.  I just wanted to run around the house, carrying it in my mouth.  My human's persistence won, though, and I let her catch a picture of me with the hat on.
This morning I very nonchalantly hopped onto the edge of the bed while Elise was on the computer and my other human was still sleeping.  I peered down at them for a minute and then curled up in a little ball and pretended to be asleep, before they could tell me to get down.  Maybe they let me continue sleeping up there as an early xmas present?  I'm not going to ask questions.
I really hate taking a bath.  About once a month, though, Elise insists.  She butters me up first by taking me to the dog park for at least an hour, and letting me get as dirty as I want.  Then she brings me to the dog wash by the park, and I know what's coming.  I tried to stand my ground today, but she had someone help her lift me into the tub.  It's not that bad, but I hate being stuck in the tub.  This is my "I'm not amused" face I gave her, after she soaped me up.  I will admit that I smell a lot better now, though.
Sometimes I like to sleep as far under my humans' big bed as I can get.  It's cozy under there.  I used to be able to crawl all the way under, but I tried that the other night and had a real problem trying to get out in the morning.  I had to army crawl and squeeze my way back out.  I panicked a little.  Now I only go halfway under the bed.

Sometimes when we leave the dog park and I'm panting really hard, because I ran around so much, my human Elise rolls down the car window and lets me get some fresh air.  If she rolls it too far down I can't control myself and try to stick my feet out the window too, but this is just enough to smell all the good smells we drive by on the way home.

Elise decided she wanted to check me for fleas this evening.  I took the opportunity to snuggle in and enjoy the attention.  She didn't find any fleas, but continued petting me anyway.  I could get used to sleeping like this all the time.

I got a new bone today.  My favorite way to chew on it, is to lay on my back and hold it in place with my two paws.
This is where I like to lay while my humans take a shower.  Sometimes I poke my head in and bite the water. Sometimes I like to just lay there with my ball and get tucked in under a towel.

This morning Elise and I went to the dog park.  There weren't any other dogs there so we played "fetch" for a while.  Then we decided to go for a walk around the whole park itself.  It has trails through the trees and ducks that I really wanted to chase.  I managed to carry this chewed up ball I found with me the whole time.  By the time we got home, I just grabbed the ball out of the car, ran to our front door and laid down.  I needed a rest and was ready to just lay there and finish chewing up that tennis ball.  Elise even let me bring the dirty thing into the house after she washed it.  It doesn't have as much flavor now, but I'm excited to leave it in little bits and pieces all over the house.  I'm a happy dog :)

I got to play with my friend Buddy at the dog park today.  Yes, he is also called "Buddy."  Not only that, but he's also half golden retriever and half australian shepherd!  He's 8 years old, so he usually can't keep up with me but I run around and taunt him with the tennis ball anyway.  Sometimes he catches my tail, and ends up with tuffs of fur in his mouth.  I have a fluffy tail though, so I don't mind.

I was trying to get my human Brandon to wrestle with me.  He didn't seem to want to, so I just stared into his eyes instead.

Friday, December 9, 2011

Today started off with a not-so-friendly dog at the dog park trying to attack me, so that wasn't great.  After that, though, I think my human Elise wanted to cheer me up and took me to PetSmart!  I got a pretty cool new toy!  It's a combination of 2 of my favorite things....tennis balls and rope toys.  We'll see how long it lasts before I destroy it.

I figured out 3 more ways to get treats out of my humans yesterday.  "Take a nap," "circle," and "which one" seem to be key words.  I've managed to decipher their meanings.  I don't necessarily understand the point, but I can't deny that I enjoy the attention and treats.
This is what my human Brandon wears to "work".  Think I could pass as an employee?  I've got the name badge.  That's what counts, right?
I got bored while my humans were gone today.  I tried reading some of their magazines.  The realization that I don't have opposable thumbs came up again, so I had to use my teeth to turn the pages.

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

This is my new "trick" my humans taught me.  I could just walk around the jump, but since it turned out to be kind of fun, I started going over as they were encouraging me to do.  I wonder if this means I'm allowed to jump on other stuff around the house.  Note to self:  try jumping on the couch.
Hmm...I'm not sure what's going on with this TV.  It makes weird noises.  The pictures move, and yet I can't catch them!  I'm going to have to take some time to contemplate my next move, but watch your back TV.
Don't let this picture fool you.  I actually don't really enjoy taking a shower.  I just like to get in long enough to bite the water as it's attacking my face.
I was just trying this on the other day.  I wanted to make sure it felt sturdy enough to withstand any falls my human Brandon might take.  They do feed me and all, so I have to make sure these humans stick around.  I'm hoping it fits his head better than mine.  I have been told that I have a knobby head, though.
Is this where the tree skirt goes?  I think I look pretty good in red actually.  This is as far as we got with decorating the tree today.  Luckily we still have a couple more weeks to finish the job.
I don't know what the big deal is with this toilet.  Other than drinking the fresh water out of it, I don't understand the hype.  It's just not the same as feeling the tickle of soft grass under your feet.  I thought I'd humor my human though, and sat and looked at the newspaper long enough to decide which article to eat first.
Ugh, I don't think weight lifting is for me.  Opposable thumbs really do make a difference.  Plus this "headband" looks ridiculous, doesn't it?
These are not the droids you're looking for.

Think I could go as Obi-Wan for Halloween next year?

I think my human was cleaning out her closet or something.  She kept saying I looked really pretty, so I just went along with it.  The dress was actually very soft and comfortable, but I'm not going to tell that to any of my other dog friends.
What?  What's that?  Go outside?  *sigh*  But we're winning right now!!!
It rains in the Seattle area.  Apparently these make jumping in puddles more fun.  Hey, you know what they say, "If it's raining cats and dogs, make sure you don't step in a poodle!"  At least I think that's what they say....
Personally, I prefer Clifford the Big Red Dog, but my human is always raving about Harry Potter...."Blah, Blah, Blah, Harry Potter, Blah, Blah, Blah, walk?"  I decided to give it a try.  Since I started with the 7th book, I had no idea what was going on, so I just started eating it instead.  It had a good texture and the red lining on the inside of the covers made for some pretty festive puke.
One of my favorite pastimes is watching funny dog videos online.  This one is of a bulldog jumping on a trampoline.  Someday I'd like to jump on a trampoline.....
I love my humans.  Elise makes sure my fur is in peak condition, after I get it as dirty as possible at the park.  Very relaxing.
Gotta bring water and fuel for those long runs.  I don't want my human to get worn out!
It's been so cold outside!  I actually don't really mind, since I'm covered in fur, but my human thought this was a good idea.
